Tennsmith Flex Folder

The Tennsmith SBS FLEX builds on the proven SBS platform with a recessed folding beam, giving you more clearance to form high-pitch roof drip edge, box gutters, and hat channels.

Description

Solid Construction
This metal brake is plate and weldment steel construction, delivering superior performance and features in a rigid design.

Intelligent Controls
Second to none, SYNERGY (our highly advanced, Windows-based ECS CNC control system) takes the complexity out of programming and running parts.

Powerful Combination
Combining automated bending of angles up to 155 degrees, material clamping and material support make the AutoBrake a powerful machine.

Precise Folding
The folding beam consists of a thick plate for maximum resistance to bending forces with a machined seat to receive the bending blade.

The Fabricator’s Favorite Way to FLEX

The SBS FLEX AutoBrake features a recessed folding beam that provides greater clearance when forming drip edge and complex profiles — making bends that are difficult or impossible on standard folders faster and easier. This 126″ mechanical folder rated for 14-gauge material is proudly made in the USA and engineered for long-term reliability, using premium bearings, motors, and electrical components throughout. A twin direct-drive folding beam delivers fast, accurate bends without torque fade or chain maintenance, producing straight, consistent parts and exceptional hemming performance, all backed by an industry-leading three-year factory warranty.

Tennsmith’s SBS Series Folders

The SBS Series features a fast, accurate twin motor (Left and Right) direct drive system for the folding beam, capable of bending speeds up to 90 degrees per second. This design eliminates torque build up commonly found on competitors’ chain drive folders, which leads to uneven or “fade out” bends. The “fade out” is especially noticeable when forming radius profiles on chain drive machines. With an SBS folder, parts are produced more consistently straight and even. This twin motor direct drive design also eliminates need for adjustments or maintenance, giving these folders greater advantage over those with chain drives.

The Tennsmith SBS Series clamping system is designed with a center drive, maximizing power and hemming capacity while reducing torque loss through the drive shaft. Twin support legs provide positive resistance to the floor, elevating machine rigidity. The clamping motor’s central placement provides even clamping pressure, enabling consistent and even forming especially beneficial for radius profiles.

SBS Series folders come standard with a crowning system, giving owners the most complete adjustability of any standard sheet metal folder on the market today. Gone are the days of shimming your machine to achieve straight bends. The crowning system is easily adjusted and has a scaled face plate that reads 0 to 0.030″. This allows you to adjust your machine the same for a wide variety of materials time and time again. Another benefit of the SBS crowning system is radius profiles. With this set-up you will be able to accurately bend straight perfect radius profiles.

The back gauge for the SBS Series folders features a fast, accurate twin ball screw design and incorporates 16 solid fingers. All three drive systems of the SBS Series — folding beam, clamping beam and back gauge — are controlled by frequency inverters, giving the SBS unbeatable accuracy and performance.

The folder’s material support panels are slotted, allowing the panels to be moved back in order to bend reverse or down flanges within the machine. Adjustments are quick and easy with just one turn of the support panel knobs.

SYNERGY Control Features

SYNERGY is our newest software system designed for our powered folding machines. It is a highly advanced, user-friendly CNC system that takes the complexity out of programming and running parts. Its full-color, graphical touchscreen interface allows you to store, browse and search for parts, as well as create new parts on the fly.

  • 3D part display, part stretch out calculation and automatic part sequencing
  • Provides 3 different hem options: open, closed, tear drop
  • Part simulation to verify bending sequence, material handling and collisions
  • Displays actual axis values and real-time machine motion
  • Search function for easy part identification
  • Ability to save programs in folders and subfolders
  • Ability to export or back up programs and library materials to USB flash drive
  • Capable of importing DXF files; accepts Eagleview® files

With SYNERGY, you have the option to purchase our Konstruct and Konnect software. Konstruct and Konstruct Mobile enable programming from the office and the field. Konnect facilitates remote technical support, service and assistance.

The SYNERGY control system on our SBS Series folders is easy to learn and easy to use. Even the most inexperienced operator can be trained to produce complex parts in minutes using it. While it is simple to use, it offers every tool necessary for producing the most accurate and complex parts of any light gauge folder on the market today.
